ISO 8859-1 Characters

This page contains the ISO 8859-1 characters that can be used when authoring/coding web pages and other HTML documents.

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards. The ISO 8859-1 standard relates to information processing - 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets. ISO-8859-1 is the default character set in most major browsers.

The first 128 characters of ISO-8859-1 is the original ASCII character-set. This consists of numbers from 0-9, the english alphabet (in uppercase and lowercase), as well as some special characters.

HTML Reserved Characters

The following table contains the reserved characters in HTML. If you want to display any of these characters on a web page, you will need to use either the entity name or number.

For example, if you want to display a greater-than symbol (>), you should use either > or > in your HTML code.
